Bethany Speech team competes in tournament in Arkansas

The Bethany Speech Team traveled to Siloam Springs, AR over spring break to compete in the National Christian College Forensics Invitational speech and debate tournament.  Seniors Rachel Skaaland and Baylee Amy, Juniors William Soule and Shawn Loging, Sophomore Leah Hensch and Freshman Jacob Schneider left Bethany on Thursday, March 7 and returned Tuesday, March 12.

The tournament was held on the campus of John Brown University.  The team did well.  Rachel Skaaland placed 2nd in After Dinner Speaking and 6th in the Interpretation of Faith Literature.  Baylee Amy placed 5th in the Interpretation of Faith Literature.  William Soule placed first in Extemporaneous Speaking and Impromptu Speaking, making him a national champion.  The team took 3rd place in Division III (small school) sweepstakes.  Bethany has earned a team trophy 3 of the last four years, last year taking 1st place in the small school division.
