A tradition was started in Ancient Greece of competing to see who was the best athlete, whether it be speed, stamina, or brute strength. That tradition is embodied today in Bethany’s first ever Outdoor Track and Field team.
The group started out last year as a club, but this year they are a full team. The team has only had one meet so far, but preparation began late last year with the Indoor Track team, which finished third in conference.
Almost everyone from the indoor team continued into the outdoor season, and a few new members were picked up in the transition.

One of the lesser-known clubs at Bethany, the Equestrian Club is composed of five female students. These girls recently traveled to University of Minnesota – Crookston for a competition in pleasure Western horsemanship. For the first IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Show Association) competition these girls have ever competed in, it will be the last one for the year due to low funds. However, the girls that competed still cherish this event.

It seems as if the temperatures keep dropping lower each day as the winter months continue, but the energy and determination of the Bethany indoor track and field team has been on a steady increase ever since the season started.
With a team of 11 men and 10 women, Bethany may not be the biggest team at the meets they attend, but when looking at the number, it is clear that small can still be mighty.

Achievements in college sports are always something to take notice of. Whether it is a team going to the championship, a player receiving a prestigious award or just simply setting a school record for most points in a game in any sport, it took a lot of hard work, practice and support of a team to get those achievements in a college career. On Jan. 18, Bethany men’s basketball fans witnessed not one milestone but two – all in the course of one game.
